LONDON, UK: Award-winning singer, songwriter and Emmy-nominated producer Sheree Brown returns with “Thinkin’ - The Rethink” and “Thinkin’ - The Rethink for Stevie Wonder”, reimagined versions of one of the most talked-about songs from her acclaimed album Messages From The Soul: The Power of Music. The single was released on 16 October 2026 via ExpansionRecords.com.

“Thinkin’” first appeared as the second track on the album, released by Expansion Records almost a year ago, and was quickly singled out by the label as one to look for. The Rethink gives the song a new lease of life: a heartfelt tribute to Stevie Wonder, whose musical spirit has run through Sheree’s career from the very beginning.

A song worth thinking twice about

Rather than leave a favourite where it landed, Sheree chose to return to “Thinkin’” with fresh ears. The result keeps everything listeners loved about the original-its warmth, groove and reflective heart-while opening it up to new colours and a new audience.

“This song has always been one of those songs that stays with you. When I went back to it, I heard something new, and I wanted to give it room to breathe. That’s what The Rethink is: taking a second look at something you love and finding there is still more to say.”

A tribute rooted in history

Sheree’s connection to Stevie Wonder goes back more than four decades. Signed to Capitol Records in the early 1980s, she wrote every song on her debut albums Straight Ahead (1981) and The Music (1982). On the latter, Stevie Wonder lent his unmistakable harmonica to the closing track, “On My Way Home”. “Thinkin’ - The Rethink” is Sheree’s way of honouring that legacy-a celebration of the joy, optimism and musicianship that made Stevie one of the defining voices in soul music.

The timing is fitting. Stevie Wonder has just celebrated the 50th anniversary of Songs in the Key of Life, the 1976 masterpiece that had an immense influence on the many artists who followed in his footsteps. Arriving just weeks after that milestone, “Thinkin’ - The Rethink” adds Sheree’s voice to the celebration of a body of work that continues to shape soul music half a century on.

A remarkable year

The release caps a busy 2026 for Sheree. In July she issued the bilingual anthem “I Am You and You Are Me (Tu Eres Yo)” featuring Jessica Ortiz on Expansion Records, praised by soulandjazzandfunk.com for its gentle, unifying spirit. She has also made her first foray into house music with “Power”, produced by Steve Barry Cohen, which has been gaining attention on the club circuit.

Messages From The Soul: The Power of Music brings together original compositions with writing contributions from Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer and artist Patrice Rushen, Marcus Pettit, and Sheree’s daughter Maya Nicol and son Revels.
